Topias " Topson " Taavitsainen is permanently retiring from the Dota 2 pro scene
Topias " Topson " Taavitsainen, the midlaner of Tundra Esports , has left the team and is likely retiring from the Dota 2 pro scene for good.
This was announced on the official Telegram channel of the club.
"From a stand-in at TI 12 to a top-3 finish at TI 13. POGson, GOGson, DADson – Topson . After countless patches, endless tournaments, and crazy drafts, we are saying goodbye to him as he leaves competitive Dota. Thank you so much for everything"
Tundra Esports bid farewell to the two-time world champion, who came close to setting a record at The International 2024. He nearly won his third TI but his team was eliminated, finishing in the top-3 at TI13.
Topson has not yet explained his departure from the Dota 2 pro scene, but there were previous rumors suggesting he might be drafted into the army. This theory isn’t far-fetched, as it has already happened with another world champion, Lasse "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen, who went on to serve.
