MEDIA: WILDCARD CLOSE IN ON phzy AND susp
American organization Wildcard are close to signing Love " phzy " Smidebrant and Tim " susp " Ångström, according to a joint report by Dust2.se and Dust2.us.
The Swedish pair would replace Keller "SLIGHT" Nilan and recent trial addition Adam " Grizz " Golden on Wildcard's roster, providing them a substantial firepower upgrade and a wealth of European experience in a similar vein to M80 's imports of Elias "s1n" Stein and Fritz "slaxz-" Dietrich.
According to Dust2.us, negotiations with phzy have been underway for close to a month, with susp coming into the conversation more recently.
The former decimated competition in Asia for six months while playing for Rare Atom (1.33 rating over 42 maps), while susp broke out in 2024 playing for Metizport alongside his twin brother, Adam "adamb" Ångström.
The signing, if it comes to fruition, would end a period of uncertainty for Wildcard and complete their search for a long-term fifth that began with the release of Gage " infinite " Green in March.
The organization initially planned to sign Ian "motm" Hardy to fill the spot, but learned that he was ineligible to join due to roster lock rules that were miscommunicated to the team by ESL. Wildcard was reportedly in talks to sign João "snow" Vinicius from casE before the deal was hijacked by pain , and have played with Qihao "C4LLM3SU3" Su and American rifler Grizz on trial to fill the gap during the search.
Wildcard recently qualified for ESL Pro League Season 20 after finishing second in ESL Challenger League Season 47, but regularly play second-fiddle to M80 and often battle Nouns, Party Astronauts , and NRG for who is the best of the rest.
If the change comes to fruition, Wildcard would be:
Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz
Josh "JBa" Barutt
Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek
Love " phzy " Smidebrant
Tim " susp " Ångström
João "horvy" Horvath (coach)
