Valve closes VRS region-swap loophole ahead of Singapore Major
Valve has changed its Major Supplemental Rulebook to prevent teams from switching Valve Regional Standings regions shortly before a Major qualification cutoff.
Under the new rule, a roster is only eligible for assignment to a region if it has not appeared in another region's VRS list during the previous three calendar months.
The change effectively introduces a three-month waiting period for regional moves.
Rule targets recent Asia switches
Several organizations had recently attempted to move from the European VRS into Asia, where the qualification race for the PGL Major Singapore was less crowded.
The revised rule prevents teams from adding Asia-eligible players shortly before the qualification deadline and immediately appearing in the Asian rankings.
The change has significant consequences for teams that had already built rosters around the previous rules.
BC.Game and Sashi are among the organizations affected by the adjustment after making recent moves designed to establish Asia-eligible cores.
The new rule applies ahead of the Major invitation cutoff and has prompted criticism over the timing of Valve's intervention.
