SunPayus leaves G2 amid reports of FUT move

G2 have officially announced the departure of Álvaro "SunPayus" García, ending the Spanish AWPer's 14-month spell with the organization.

SunPayus had spent the past three months on the bench after G2 replaced him with Artem "r1nkle" Moroz in June.

FUT move reportedly next

G2 did not announce SunPayus' next destination, but the 27-year-old is widely expected to join FUT.

Reports have linked him with a move to replace Nikita "cmtry" Samolotov as FUT's AWPer.

The transfer has not yet been officially confirmed by FUT.

G2 spell ends after 14 months

SunPayus joined G2 in July 2025 as the long-term replacement for m0NESY following the Russian star's transfer to Falcons .

There were encouraging early signs as G2 won BLAST Open London 2025 only a month after SunPayus joined, but the team struggled to consistently challenge for titles afterward.

G2 eventually opted for r1nkle as part of a shift toward a more aggressive style.

Coach SAW previously explained that the team needed a more aggressive presence because several other members of the lineup naturally preferred more passive roles.
