Gizmy Leaves Monte as 100 Thieves Move Expected
Monte have officially confirmed the departure of Jack “Gizmy” von Spreckelsen, ending one of the more notable development stories in recent CS2 .
The 22-year-old in-game leader first joined Monte through the organization’s academy system and later became the captain who led the team to Stage 3 of the IEM Cologne Major.
Monte praised Gizmy in their farewell statement, highlighting his growth from academy player to team leader. The organization thanked him for his loyalty, leadership and dedication, while calling him a captain who earned the respect of everyone around him.
Monte also ended the message with an emotional send-off, saying it was not goodbye but “see you later, Captain Jack.”
Gizmy was permanently promoted to Monte ’s main roster as IGL in January 2025. At the time, he said he had reinvented himself as a player, and his rise over the following months became one of the stronger breakout stories of the year.
Under his leadership, Monte defeated teams such as Legacy, paiN and PARIVISION at the Cologne Major. Bymas also praised him in interviews, saying Gizmy showed no signs of pressure at his first Major and had the potential to become one of the best leaders in the game.
His next move now appears to be 100 Thieves . Reports have linked Gizmy with the organization, where he is expected to take over in-game leader duties from rain and join his first major tier-one project.
For a player who built his reputation through Monte ’s academy system, a move to 100 Thieves would be a major step forward. His strong run at the Cologne Major appears to have made that jump possible.
