BIG Complete Historic 0-12 Comeback at IEM Cologne Major 2026
BIG pulled off one of the most remarkable comebacks in Counter-Strike history after recovering from a 0-12 deficit against NRG on Mirage to secure a place in Stage 2 of the IEM Cologne Major 2026.
The German team had a disastrous first half and failed to win a single round on the T side, entering the break down 0-12. However, after switching sides, BIG produced an unbelievable run of 16 straight round wins to take the map.
According to ESL, this was the first time in CS2 Major history that a team came back from a 0-12 deficit to win a map.
The victory allowed BIG to finish Stage 1 with a 3-2 record, making them the final team to advance to Stage 2.
After the match, the official CS2 account on X reacted to the comeback, calling attention to BIG ’s 16 consecutive round wins. The organizers also highlighted another surprising detail: BIG won only one total T-side round on Mirage.
BIG ’s players were left stunned by the result. Team captain Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz described it as the craziest match of his career and said the team had experienced a magical moment in Cologne.
Benjamin “blameF” Bremer, Jon “JDC” de Castro and Josef “faveN” Baumann also reacted with disbelief after the match, with JDC saying he still could not believe the team had reached the second stage.
NRG were also shocked by the defeat. Captain Nick “nitr0” Cannella posted a short reaction after the loss, as the American team had been just one round away from qualifying for Stage 2 before their tournament run ended.
BIG ’s comeback is already being viewed as one of the most memorable maps in Major history. The team overturned a 12-round deficit on the deciding map of the series, while NRG suffered one of the most painful losses in the organization’s history.
