StarLadder is reportedly changing the location of StarSeries Fall 2026, with the tournament now expected to move from Vaasa, Finland , to Barcelona, Spain .

The event was originally scheduled to take place at Vaasan Sähkö Areena from September 17 to 20, featuring eight teams and a $500,000 prize pool. However, according to is.fi, negotiations between StarLadder and local authorities in Vaasa ended without an agreement.

Finnish outlet Ilta-Sanomat reported that the lack of full partnership support from the city was one of the main reasons behind the change. While the city’s financial contribution was not expected to be large, official support was reportedly important for StarLadder when organizing a major LAN event.

The mayor of Vaasa confirmed that talks had taken place but declined to comment on the details or final result. Negotiations reportedly continued until the end of May before ending without a deal.

Following the failed talks in Finland , StarLadder is said to have chosen Barcelona as the new host city. Instead of being held in a large arena, the tournament is now expected to take place in a studio format without a live audience.

Barcelona is already familiar to StarLadder, as the organizer has used the city for its Stake Ranked series. This makes it a practical alternative despite the more modest event setup.

StarSeries Fall 2026 is still expected to feature eight teams, with four invited through the Valve VRS rankings and four coming from qualifiers. The prize pool is also expected to remain at $500,000.

The tournament fits into the CS2 calendar without overlapping with other major events. Upcoming competitions such as FISSURE Playground 5 and ESL Pro League Season 24 could also help ensure a strong lineup of teams for the Barcelona event.

If confirmed, the move would mark a major change in plans for StarSeries Fall 2026. While the tournament would lose its arena setting in Finland , it would still remain an important LAN event on the CS2 calendar.
