Fragpunk Unveils Map Perfectly Replicating CS2 's Inferno

A year ago, the Chinese company NetEase released the shooter Fragpunk—a blend of simplified Valorant and Overwatch. The game didn't become a hit in the West but continued to receive regular updates.

Recently, the developers released a new map called Toyland, which sparked a storm of discussions. Players noticed that it almost entirely copies the legendary de_inferno from Counter-Strike.

It's important to note that this is not a fan modification but an official map added to the game by the developer itself. It is available to all users by default. Toyland schematically mirrors Inferno completely—even the spots and hiding places match. The only difference lies in a few new passages that slightly alter the gameplay.

Opinions on social media are divided. Some doubt that Valve could win a potential lawsuit since the Fragpunk developers did not directly copy any game assets. Others insist that map layouts should be considered intellectual property themselves and remind that projects like CS: Legacy and Classic Offensive were once shut down precisely because of their similarity to the original.

Against this backdrop, users are questioning why different standards apply to NetEase. Many believe that Valve simply won't want to engage in a direct conflict with a large corporation, and therefore Toyland will remain in the game. For fans, this has become a clear example of corporate hypocrisy.
