PGL Bucharest 2025: organizers postpone qualifications

The organizers of PGL Bucharest 2025 have announced the change of dates for the closed qualifiers for the European, North American and South American regions. As stated in the PGL statement, the changes were made to comply with Valve 's tournament requirements. Updated information on the dates and format will be announced on March 4.

Why did they postpone the qualifiers?
PGL explained their decision by the desire to ensure a fair and transparent team selection process. That's why the organizers had to reschedule the qualifying tournaments that were supposed to take place on the following dates:

Europe : February 28 - March 8
North America: March 4-9
South America: February 28 - March 8

Now all three qualifying tournaments will have a new schedule, which will be announced after March 4.

"We are refining the invitation process to ensure consistency and fairness for all teams. These adjustments, made to better comply with the Tournament Operations Requirements, have led to the rescheduling of the EU, SA, and NA qualifiers. We will provide updated information on March 4." -PGL

What do you know about PGL Bucharest 2025?
The main tournament PGL Bucharest 2025 will take place from April 6 to 13 in Bucharest. The tournament belongs to the S-Tier of competitions, and its prize pool will amount to $1 250 000.

Prize payments:
1st place - $400 000
2nd place - $187 500
3rd place - $150 000
4th place - $87 500
5-8 places - $62 500
9-11 places - $31 250
12-14 places - $18 750
15-16 places - $12 500

In total, 16 teams will play in the final part of the tournament, including the winners of regional qualifiers and invitationals for the best teams in the ranking.

Who was affected by the postponement?
The postponement of the qualifiers came as a surprise to many teams as they were already preparing for the matches. Some clubs were planning to send their main squads, while others were sending academic rosters.

Among the most interesting teams that were expected to participate in the closed qualifiers:

NaVi Junior and Spirit Academy, which was an indirect confirmation that the main squads of NAVI and Spirit refused to participate.
BIG , Imperial , NiP, Monte , and ENCE are the teams that could potentially qualify for a slot in the final stage.
The postponement of qualifiers may also affect the preparation of teams, as the new dates may conflict with other international tournaments.
