
The Valorant East Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in Chengdu in January next year
The Valorant East Asia Cup is announced to take place in Chengdu, gathering top teams from China, Japan, and South Korea to kick off the 2024 competitive season.
Valorant esports revealed initial details about the Valorant East Asia Cup scheduled for January 2024 in Chengdu, with eight teams from China, Japan, and South Korea participating.
"As the first international event initiated and led by the Chinese region, the Valorant East Asia Cup aims to foster cultural exchange and interaction in East Asia, elevate the level of Valorant esports teams in the region, and further ignite the interest and passion of fans."
Though Valorant esports officials have released limited details, it's confirmed that China will send three teams.
Japan will have two teams in the competition, while South Korea will send three representative teams, including the only confirmed participant, DRX, as they revealed in interviews that they plan to travel to China in January to compete.
Chengdu, as the capital of Sichuan Province, has hosted major esports events such as the Intel Extreme Masters, World Electronic Sports Games, AESF Esports Masters, and Mars Dota 2 League in the past. Additionally, the city is home to the Chengdu Hunters of the Overwatch League and the strong CrossFire team All Gamers, who have recently announced their own Valorant esports league
