Jamppi praises Vitality's composure and Shanghai crowd after defeating G2
Team Vitality in-game leader Elias "Jamppi" Olkkonen has praised his team's mentality after their 2–0 victory against G2 Esports at VALORANT Champions 2026.
The win secured Vitality a place in the upper-bracket final against LOUD and guaranteed another appearance at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai.
Vitality remain calm under pressure
Jamppi highlighted the team's experience during the closely contested opening map on Abyss.
Vitality had established a substantial lead before G2 recovered to level the score at 11–11.
Rather than panic, Jamppi encouraged his teammates to continue following their established plan.
He explained that the team had experienced similar situations previously, including a match against LOUD in which their opponents recovered from a large deficit.
Vitality eventually secured Abyss 13–11 before dominating Split 13–4.
Balancing leadership and Yoru
Jamppi also discussed the challenge of playing Yoru while serving as the team's in-game leader.
He credited his teammates with giving him the freedom to balance both responsibilities and said that showing aggression during important moments can help inspire confidence across the roster.
He emphasized that Derke remains Vitality's primary duelist.
Looking forward to the Mercedes-Benz Arena
Jamppi expressed enthusiasm for the support Vitality have received from the Shanghai audience.
The Finnish player described competing at the Mercedes-Benz Arena as a personal ambition and welcomed the opportunity to perform in front of a larger crowd.
Vitality will now face LOUD in the upper-bracket final on October 16.
