Background
Recently, several professional players from the Game Changers league criticized the decision to release a major update just a few days before the tournaments. Patch 11.08 will bring changes to agents, weapons, shooting, and map rotation, so EMEA teams will have only 2-3 days to adapt to the new goal before the start, and the participants of the Game Changers Championship 2025 will have less space.
Shopify Rebellion Gold representatives were the most vocal, calling the situation “unfair” and stating that “the GCC tournament will become a guinea pig for experiments.” Read more about this in our material.
Riot Games response
The head of Valorantr's esports department, Leo Faria, responded to the complaints. He acknowledged that the timing of the update is really difficult, but explained that this is the best time of the year for large-scale changes in Valorant.
Despite the dissatisfaction of some of the community, Riot Games has no plans to change the release date of patch 11.08 or the format of the championship. Therefore, players at this tournament will need to quickly adapt to all the changes.
