G2 Esports becomes the first team to qualify for Champions 2025

G2 Esports has become the first team to secure a spot at the most prestigious tournament of the year — Champions 2025. This milestone was achieved after their victory over XLG Esports at Masters Toronto 2025.

The win against XLG Esports guaranteed G2 at least 2 additional VCT points, adding to their existing 16 for a total of 18 — 11 points more than the third-place team in the Americas region. As a result, no other team can surpass them for the second-place ranking, which means a guaranteed slot at Champions 2025. Sentinels hold second place in the standings with 11 points. 

As a reminder, only two teams from the region will qualify directly for Champions 2025, while the remaining two slots will be awarded based on results from VCT 2025: Americas Stage 2 — the top two teams there will claim the final regional spots for the world championship.

Champions 2025 will take place from September 12 to October 5. Sixteen teams will compete for a $2,250,000 prize pool and the title of world champion, currently held by last year's winners — EDward Gaming .
