Faker targets another Asian Games gold with South Korea

Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok has emphasized the responsibility of representing South Korea as the country's esports national team prepares for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

The League of Legends star joined other members of South Korea's esports delegation at an official send-off ceremony held at Cube Convention Center in Mapo-gu, Seoul .

Around 400 athletes, officials, partners, and spectators attended the event as South Korea prepared for its second Asian Games campaign with esports as an official medal discipline.

Faker prepares for third Asian Games appearance

Faker will represent South Korea at the Asian Games for the third consecutive time.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, the veteran mid laner stressed the importance of competing as a national representative and said he intends to prepare thoroughly for the event.

"I truly feel the weight of responsibility as a national representative, and I will prepare thoroughly without a single moment of complacency."

South Korea will enter the tournament looking to defend its League of Legends gold medal.

South Korea send 44-member esports delegation

The country will field a 44-member esports national team across nine events at the 2026 Asian Games.

Esports became an official medal discipline at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, where four titles were contested. South Korea's delegation is now targeting medals across every event it enters in Aichi-Nagoya.

The 2026 Asian Games will take place in Japan , with League of Legends once again included among the esports medal events.
