One of the most unusual improvements is the ability to move at a 45-degree angle with a single button. This experiment originated from a Reddit user's suggestion and proved so beneficial that Riot added it as an accessibility option. Simultaneously, they revamped minion pathing, wall sliding, dynamic camera locking, and improved auto-attacks to make the experience as efficient as the classic point-and-click method.
Players also received a new tool called Scout Ahead: by holding the mouse wheel, they can temporarily move the camera freely to check other lanes or prepare for a gank. The camera will return to its original position once the button is released.
All updates will be released in patch 25.24, where WASD will be available in all non-ranked modes except normal draft. Riot emphasizes that WASD will not yet appear in ranked play—they want to wait until it's "ready," meaning no critical bugs, fair game balance, and complete control smoothness. There is no exact date for implementation in competitive queues yet, but the studio aims to gather a large amount of data from live servers to expedite the final refinements.
