Riot Unveils Yunara's Abilities and Playstyle
Riot Games has released the Champion Spotlight for Yunara, the new champion from Ionia , who acts as a marksman for marksmen in battle. She is an auto-attacker with accumulating power and a powerful ultimate that enhances all her basic abilities. Her gameplay revolves around distance control, precise timing, and effective stack management.
What Can Yunara Do?
Passive — Oath to the First Lands
Critical strikes deal additional magic damage.
Q — Spirit Cultivation
Yunara gains "Liberation" stacks when attacking enemies. At maximum stacks, she can activate Q to enter an enhanced state: • increased attack speed • additional damage to the target • splash damage in a small area Important: stacks quickly decay out of combat — Yunara must constantly engage in battles to remain strong.
W — Arc of Justice
Yunara releases a spinning energy sphere that: • deals damage and slows • slows down upon hitting enemies • expands at the end of its path and continues to deal damage
E — Steps of Kanmei
Yunara gains a burst of movement speed, helping her to: • chase • escape • dodge abilities
R — Surpass Yourself
Yunara enters a transcendent state and enhances all her basic abilities: • Q — activates immediately, works throughout the ultimate • W — transforms into Ruin Beam, direct line damage with slowing effect • E — transforms into Dark Shadow: Yunara gains a short dash, and the ability gets a cooldown for alternative use
How to Play Her?
Yunara is a champion with limited mobility and a high dependency on stacks and timing. Without her ultimate and active Q, she is vulnerable, but with full activation, she becomes a true destruction machine. She plays from positioning, builds up power for key moments, and stylistically resembles champions like Ashe, Zeri, or Jhin — marksmen who win fights by controlling space and delivering powerful damage at the right moment. Everyone will be able to try out the new marksman on July 16, when Yunara will appear in League of Legends with the release of patch 25.14.
