Rumors: Fearless Draft to Stay for the Rest of 2025

Riot Games plans to maintain the Fearless Draft format for all official League of Legends tournaments for the remainder of 2025.

This format prohibits the repeated selection of champions within a single match. It will continue to be used in leagues such as LEC, LCK, LPL , LTA, and LCP, as well as in international tournaments like MSI and Worlds. This information was shared by the Sheep Esports portal.

Initially, Fearless Draft was tested in the first split of 2025 and received positive feedback from the community. According to a survey conducted, 90% of 14,000 respondents supported the continuation of this format.

In the LEC winter playoffs, the introduction of Fearless Draft did not lead to a significant increase in the total number of unique champions, but it noticeably reduced the frequency of the most popular champions being picked. This trend was also noted by Flora "Arailla" Parmentier, a former Astralis analyst.

For example, Azir, the most sought-after champion in the winter playoffs of 2024 and 2025, was picked 23 times in 2024 but only 13 times in 2025, despite being present in 14 series of matches.

Riot Games believes that the return of Fearless Draft will enhance the diversity of champions and strategies in the pro scene and have a positive impact on its development. Last month, the company also reversed its decision to remove Hextech Chests from the game following negative community feedback.
