Jankos : Support BLG, want to see Bin play against Zeus; want to see a more intense final than last year

Live broadcast on October 26th The 2024 League of Legends World Championship is underway, media released an interview video with jungler Jankos,Jankos clearly statedthat because of Bin,he supports BLG and frankly wants to see an exciting final, fearing that if WBG advances to the final, it will be a repeat of last year's final.

Q: Which champion do you think is the most OP in this World Championship: Yone, Aurora, or Skarner?

Jankos :It depends on the team, all three champions are very strong. If the team can play Yone well, then it might be Yone, because Yone can provide significant side lane pressure, having great side lane suppression in every match. Team fights can indeed defeat Yone, for example, using Smod. But the side lane pressure is too great, and Yone pairs with Sejuani and Ziggs, making it hard to finish the game. With Ziggs, the mid lane can't do anything, and because it's Yone, the side lane can't do anything either. BP becomes problematic.

I think WBG.Xiaohu is very good at handling the Aurora vs Yone matchup, if I were playing against WBG, I would definitely keep banning Aurora. Because I support BLG, I want to see BLG ban Aurora on the blue side, which would force WBG to ban Yone, because I think Aurora is Xiaohu's only solution. I don't think they have Smod as a solution, only GEN can do that. No other team has achieved good results using Smod against Yone, only GEN succeeded, they picked it twice and won twice. But this World Championship, Smod's overall win rate against Yone is terrible, I don't want WBG to do that, although I think GEN can do it.

Aurora is indeed very strong in team fights, when the team has Nocturne, Wukong, or Vi, when she reaches level 11 or 16, the AOE damage is overwhelming, even if you flash out, you will lose a lot of health. Moreover, Aurora can also exert great pressure on the side lanes, although I think Yone can win against Aurora in the side lane.

But Xiaohu played Aurora against ShowMaker and Scout and won against Yone, he is very good at this matchup and champion. Other teams have also tried swapping Aurora and Yone, but they couldn't win the lane. Even if Xiaohu and ShowMaker swap playing Yone vs Aurora, I think Xiaohu should be able to win.

I think Yone > Aurora > Skarner, and I think the priority of the World Championship teams is also like this, Yone is above Aurora and Skarner. I think Skarner is very strong, but team fights can be dealt with, especially if the early game is played very steadily.

Q: You mentioned you support BLG to beat WBG, what do you think of these two teams? Why do you support BLG?

Jankos : I support BLG because of Bin. I think Bin is an outstanding player, watching him play Jax and other champions in team fights excites me. I don't know if BLG can be called an "underdog" now, because their start in the World Championship was very bad, but after changing the jungler, they look much better. Xun seems very similar to me, he is a very positive player, always smiling, always fun. Watching their games is very enjoyable. Although they defeated G2 to advance, in that match Elk performed exceptionally well with EZ, which is impossible for Western EZ to play like that, this is the gap between the West and China/Korea. I really like BLG.

I'm a bit worried that if WBG advances to the finals, it will be a repeat of last year's finals. Whether their opponent is GEN or T1, I'm afraid it will be another 3-0. I think BLG has the potential to compete with those two teams, and I also want to see Zeus vs bin I think it would be a treat for my eyes, hopefully without lane swaps. I'm supporting BLG because I want to see an exciting final. I believe BLG can bring us a more thrilling final than WBG.

Q: Many people underestimate WBG, and most predicted before the match that LNG would defeat WBG because LNG had a 3-0 record, and Scout had performed exceptionally well before. However, I think WBG's BP was particularly well done, and they know their weaknesses.

Jankos :I agree, and I think Breathe has played very well in this tournament. I saw some hot memes and comments, "When the coach tells Breathe the team is about to disband, Breathe gets buffed and starts to explode." His Gnar performance was outstanding, especially against FNC.

I was also one of those who doubted WBG before, and I didn't think WBG would perform well, but they did, and I was surprised. I also agree with what you said; their BP was done very well, which is their advantage. They are one of the few teams that can swap Aurora and Yone, making other teams pay attention to this and even ban Yone and Aurora (on the blue side). Honestly, I think banning these two champions on the blue side is crazy.

I'm curious how BLG will deal with WBG. BLG has had some struggles, and I hope On can regain his form. Up until the match against G2, On still hadn't returned to his best form.

I will cheer for BLG, and ultimately the stronger team will win. I just hope for a more intense final than last year.

Q: When LNG advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-0 record, I interviewed Scout, and he didn't seem very happy. He said, "This may sound strange, but I hope we can have more intense matches and then lose one or two games to gain more experience." At the time, I just thought he was showing off. Later, I interviewed GEN. Peyz , who also advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-0 record, and he expressed a similar opinion. After FLY and GEN played, I interviewed GEN.Helper, the coach, who said that day he felt 3-0 was actually a disadvantage, as a 15-day break prevented the players from quickly improving their match feel.

Jankos :I agree. I don't remember if it was 12 or 15 days, I don't remember exactly how many days they had to rest, but I think it was indeed too long. There is too much time between 3-0 and 3-2 without playing matches, which is terrible for the players. On the day GEN played FLY, FLY drafted very well in the first game and deserved that win. Despite that, GEN was in particularly poor form and coordination, with Lehends diving in without anyone following. It might be because they didn't give FLY enough respect, or it could be because they lost their match feel, but LNG also lost, and the 3-0 teams struggled. The 3-2 teams play the quarterfinals 3 to 4 days later, and they also have to film, travel from Berlin to Paris, and might not even have time to play many scrims. The feeling on the stage can be maintained until they stand on the stage again. From my experience, after players finish a day's match, they are more in form the next day. Of course, I'm not referring to LEC's BO1, which is a garbage format, and I don't like this format.

Back to this topic, I think advancing to the quarterfinals with a 3-2 record is more beneficial. If you are an outstanding team like BLG, I think it's better, having played more matches, gained more match experience, played more matches in the World Championship, and having a shorter break before the quarterfinals, allowing players to maintain a state of playing matches on the stage.
