On June 28, in the first round of the 2024 LCK Summer Split regular season, GEN.G swept DRX 2-0, achieving a six-game winning streak in the main stage and a twelve-game winning streak in the minor stage.
But the achievements of GEN.G, composed of Kiin, Canyon , Chovy , Peyz, and Lehends, go far beyond that.
Their last series loss was in the 2024 LCK Spring Split, on February 14, Valentine's Day. They were swept 2-0 by KT in the first round of the regular season. This defeat was like an awakening for GEN.G, and since then, victory has been easily within their grasp.
In the subsequent regular season, they achieved an impressive eleven-game winning streak, only losing one game in their match against DK. In the spring playoffs, they completed their title defense with just three BO5s, securing their fourth consecutive LCK championship.
After their journey to MSI, they continued to create a wonderful story. They easily swept FNC 3-0, and after an intense five-game battle, they narrowly defeated TES 3-2. They crushed BLG 3-1 twice, shattering LPL's dominance over MSI and bringing the championship trophy back to LCK for the first time in seven years.
The story does not end here. Their six-game winning streak in the summer split has brought their series winning streak to a terrifying 24 games. They have not only set the record for the longest winning streak in the history of League of Legends esports series, but also have the opportunity to further widen the gap with the second-place team.
Their next series is against TES in the 2024 Saudi Arabia Esports World Cup, a rematch from MSI. In their previous encounter, GEN.G emerged victorious. It remains to be seen if TES can stop them from extending their record.
Prior to this, the record was held by T1 in 2022 and WE from 2012 to 2013, with both teams achieving a 21-game series winning streak during their respective dominant periods.
