Aurora Gaming Refuses to Finish Match Against PARIVISION Due to Doom Buyback Bug

The team Aurora Gaming disagreed with the tournament administration's decision and refused to finish the decisive map against PARIVISION in the upper bracket semifinals of the PGL Wallachia Season 4 playoffs. The incident occurred due to a significant bug with Doom's DEVIL'S BARGAIN aspect, which affected the match's proceedings.

Full Event Timeline
At the 51st minute of the third map in the series between Aurora and PARIVISION at the PGL Dota 2 tournament, a significant bug occurred that impacted the course of the match. The hero Doom, played by Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko, was unable to use buyback despite having the required gold. The error was associated with the DEVIL'S BARGAIN aspect: it was supposed to increase the buyback cost by 20%, but in reality, it raised it by 40%.

The match was paused for almost an hour. The tournament administration confirmed the presence of the bug and reported that Valve acknowledged the issue and was working on a fix. Aurora refused to continue the match without changes. The team insisted on a reload 20 seconds before the fight or a full map remake to eliminate the bug's influence on the outcome.

Aurora player Miroslav "Mira" Kolpakov shared that the administration suggested the PARIVISION team refrain from active actions for 90 seconds while Doom remained dead. However, by that time, the opponent's heroes Magnus and Warlock had already used buybacks, and after 90 seconds, PARIVISION would have gained a significant advantage. Aurora felt that the proposed compensation did not eliminate the bug's consequences and created unequal conditions.

Alexander "TORONTOTOKYO" Hertek commented on the situation:

We just didn't agree with PGL's decision.

As a result, Aurora lost the series 1:2 and dropped to the tournament's lower bracket. Valve promptly fixed the DEVIL'S BARGAIN bug by releasing a hotfix the night after the match.
