Valve revealed new details about The International 2025
Valve has announced its reworking of the group stage structure for International 2025 by incorporating the Swiss System tournaments format. It’s yet another way where the beloved Valve company puts their creativity to use.
This is reported on the official Dota 2 page on Steam.
The initial phase is set for September 4-7, with all games being fought out in a best of three series. After five rounds, the top three teams with four wins will qualify for the playoffs and continue battling for the title.
The other ten remaining teams will face off in an extra qualifying round that will feature the 'strongest vs weakest' matchmaking system. The five winners will move on to the next stage, with the losers being eliminated.
Every team in the playoffs will start the round in the upper bracket. The remaining matches will follow a best of three format with the exception of the grand final, which will be in a best of five showdown. Team pairings will be established based on their performance at group stage. These matches will take place from September 11-14.
Advanced ticket sales for the last part of the tournament begin on April 15 at 11 AM Moscow time. Fans can buy tickets on AXS, where single and multi-day tickets will be offered.
Previously, Valve celebrated April 1 in Dota 2, giving creeps a special visual effect.
