Topson will leave the pro scene as he is being drafted into the army, - Maelstorm
Topias " Topson " Taavitsainen, the midlaner for Tundra Esports , may be leaving the professional Dota 2 scene due to the possibility of being drafted for mandatory military service in Finland.
This information was shared by commentator Vladimir "Maelstorm" Kuzminov in his Telegram channel.
" Topson will leave Dota because it's time for him to go to the army"
According to Maelstorm, Topson will have to return to his homeland to serve in the military. If confirmed, this would require him to at least pause his pro-player career. Another player, Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon, has also stated that he confirms this rumor.
This scenario isn’t far-fetched, as another champion, Lasse "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen, also left the pro scene to fulfill mandatory service. However, Finnish law allows for the possibility of a 10-year deferment. Considering that Topson is currently 26, theoretically, he could still have two years left before service.
Despite these rumors, the two-time The International champion has not commented on this information or announced any plans to leave the pro scene.
It's worth noting that Topson was spotted in an unusual location after his team's elimination from The International 2024.
