Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov, offlaner for Team Spirit , revealed that he became an esports player thanks to his performance in public matches.

It was after his impressive showings in matchmaking that he was noticed and invited to try out for a team.

He shared this in an interview with Aviasales.

“To become an esports player, you first need to have a deep love for the game. I practiced a lot, and my results in public matches were noticed, leading to an invitation to try out for a team. Many esports organizations have scouting departments that monitor top players and look for promising talent”

According to him, clubs usually have a special department that monitors matchmaking and seeks potential recruits for their rosters. This is how Collapse made it into esports, thanks to his success in public games.

However, the player cautioned that a career in esports is quite risky, as many aspire to join tier-1 teams, but only a few succeed.
