Valve forgot to take into account their own rules: teams get points for unrated tournaments

VALVE has faced a new wave of criticism for not finalizing the rating system for CS2 . Despite the company's statements about the division of tournaments into rated and unrated, the Rare Atom team and the Mongolian organization ATOX received points in the official rankings after participating in the XSE Pro League Season 3, which was supposed to be unrated.

Flaws in the code
According to the information, there is only one filter in the VALVE code - for show matches that are not taken into account in the rating. All other tournaments, even if they are declared as unrated, automatically affect the positions of teams.

This drawback led to a sharp rise in the rankings of two teams at once: Rare Atom moved up from 71st to 36th place, and ATOX - from 42nd to 25th. Thus, the Mongolians have already reached the top 25 of the world rankings, which gives them a real chance to get an invitation to the next major tournament.

Implications for the scene
This situation has called into question the transparency of the VALVE rating system. The lack of proper verification of the conditions for tournaments can significantly affect the distribution of places in future competitions, as even local LANs are now able to significantly change the global ranking.

While Valve is silent, the community is actively discussing this issue, ridiculing the company's inability to follow its own rules.

What's next?
VALVE should urgently correct the error to avoid similar situations in the future. Otherwise, the credibility of their rating system could be seriously undermined.
