Despite being the most dominant team in the first few months of the new CS version, FaZe has not won any events since the IEM Chengdu in April.
Many analysts believe that ropz is currently in a personal slump, but he seems to be back. He has silently achieved a 1.26 rating in the EPL S20 event, which is also his best offline performance since the release of the new CS version.
As the BLAST Premier Fall Finals approach, FaZe player ropz gave a pre-match interview to foreign media.
Q: You just finished the EPL S20 event, how do you feel about the competition in Malta?
A: I feel very disappointed. We organized a bootcamp between the group stage and the playoffs. Our performance did improve, but in the first match of the playoffs, Complexity played better than us. There were also some unfortunate situations, as most of the team caught the flu. However, this is not an excuse, just to make everyone more aware of the situation we had to face.
Q: You unexpectedly lost to Sangal in your first match in Malta. What do you think went wrong at that time?
A: There wasn't anything particularly wrong, we've lost many opening matches before. This time Sangal came out strong, as you could see from the match on Anubis, where we were completely outplayed. They won more gunfights, and we never really got into the game. We later avenged ourselves in the lower bracket.
Q: The new CS version has been out for a whole year now, how do you feel about this game?
A: Since the new CS version and the beta were released in March 2023, I have been critical of sub-tick from the first day of the beta release. I think it's fair to say that this is a disappointing aspect, as CSGO's netcode definitely felt better.
Developers can still migrate servers to 128-tick, which would improve the situation. FPS is also a big issue; if your computer isn't top-notch, it can be a bit uncomfortable to participate in different events.
Compared to the initial release of CSGO back in the day, the new CS version is not bad now. But I think Valve can do better.
Q: People always say it took CSGO almost ten years to become perfect. How long do you think it will take for the new CS version?
A: I'm not sure. But I guess the game will be excellent by 2030.
Q: Are you worried that such a long time will harm the player base and general interest in the game in the long run?
A: Yes, from my perspective, I no longer care about this issue because thinking about it can be demotivating. I think the data already shows a downward trend. This game still has a lot of potential, and I hope Valve realizes this as soon as possible.
Q: Your next event is the Fall Finals, what are your thoughts on this event?
A: We worked very hard in the professional league and did a lot of work outside of official matches. After losing the match, we took a few days off to recover, hoping to show a better FaZe in the next event.
Q: You will face G2 in the opening match of the BLAST Fall Finals. What do you think about this match?
A: G2 is a strong team with excellent shooting skills. So I think it will be a tough match, especially as the opening match. If we give our all from the start, we can definitely win, I have no doubt about that.
FaZe will face G2 in the opening match of the BLAST Fall Finals on September 25.
