Team ranking: August 2024
August marked the return of the circuit to the cathedral of Counter-Strike at IEM Cologne, where Vitality lifted the trophy after a marathon final against Natus Vincere , as well as BLAST Fall Groups and BetBoom Dacha Belgrade Season 2, with the latter won by Spirit .
The month also SAW a plethora of online competitions, including the regional RMR closed qualifiers, three iterations of the CCT Europe circuit, and the BLAST Fall Showdown, where FaZe and Falcons booked their spots at the Fall Final.
For new readers or those in need of a refresher, here's a summary of how the HLTV World Ranking by 1xBet works:
Our team ranking is based on teams' achievements over the past year (with severe decay in points throughout each month), recent form over the last two months, and performance in recent events in the last 3 months.
Each team is required to have a three-man core in order to retain their points. Online matches and tournaments are included, but with a diminishing factor which means they cannot make a big difference among the top teams, and mainly serve to put new teams on the map.
Below is the current top 30 table as of Monday, September 2, which goes more in-depth into how the points are distributed — or you can check our special page, where you will be able to find the latest, weekly version of our ranking. You can see the lineup for each team by hovering over their name in the table.

Spirit return to top 3 with BB Dacha title
A return to the top three by a team that was number one just over a month ago is usually not something to be celebrated, but Spirit dropped all the way down to No. 5 in the middle of August after their IEM Cologne nightmare.
The Russian squad finished the German event in last place after two 0-2 losses, the latter of which came against G2, where Danil "donk" Kryshkovets and company could only muster up four rounds and suffer a humiliating end to the tournament. They bounced back well, though, breezing through the field at BetBoom Dacha to lift the title after losing just one map.

Wins against Falcons , FURIA Esports , Mouz , and Eternal Fire have now propelled them back into the top three, with the event also giving donk his fourth MVP award of the year. With a busy September ahead of them, as they will attend ESL Pro League S20 and BLAST Fall Final, it remains to be seen if Spirit are back to their best.
SAW enter top 10
SAW have been on a steady rise for a long time, with the core of the team breaking into the top 30 for the first time at the end of 2022. They would never drop out and continued to improve and peak at No. 16 earlier this year after their Copenhagen Major exploits, when they came agonizingly close to the Elimination stage.
They have now hit another purple patch of form and shocked the world by making the semi-final at IEM Cologne, where they got the better of FaZe in a quarter-final match in the LANXESS, and then kept up their form to go on a seven-game win streak and qualify for the Shanghai Major RMR and ESL Challenger Atlanta to reach the all-time peak of No.9.

While their lack of an ESL Pro League S20 appearance may hurt them in the short term, the Portuguese squad, bolstered by the tactical nous of Danny "BERRY" Krüger, has once again made history for their country.
pain become Brazil's highest-ranked squad
Brazilian teams have not been at the very top of the game for quite a while, as their flagship team, FURIA Esports , last appeared in the top 10 in January. Other teams like MIBR and Imperial have shown flashes, but it is Rodrigo "biguzera" Bittencourt's youthful pain squad that is currently flying the flag for their country at No. 12.
The team shot up 13 places in the rankings after their 7-8th finish at IEM Cologne and a BetBoom Dacha campaign that included wins against the likes of Falcons , Heroic , and Virtus.pro, which earned the team a third-place finish.

Their closest Brazilian rivals FURIA Esports are now almost 80 rankings points behind Kaue "kauez" Kaschuk and company. Still, the team's coach, Henrique "rikz" Waku, said to HLTV that the roster hasn't reached their full potential yet. "I think the best version is a top-five team in the world, because we have a lot of young players, and everybody came from academy or lower-tier teams."
Heroic tumble down the rankings
Heroic 's start to the fall season has been far from ideal, as their star AWPer Abdul "degster" Gasanov missed BLAST Fall Groups and the start of IEM Cologne, meaning they entered the server with Eetu " SAW " Saha and later Volodymyr "Woro2k" Veletniuk.
degster then returned for their Cologne Play-In campaign but couldn't help Heroic make it to the main event, with the rest of their results making for grim reading. A loss to OG eliminated them from the Showdown, while defeats to pain and Eternal Fire meant they exited BetBoom Dacha in last place to further compound their worries.
This means the Damjan "kyxsan" Stoilkovski-led squad now finds itself at the fringes of the top 20 despite entering the summer break in the top 10 after a 42.1% win rate over the last three months.
