Team Vitality champions IEM Cologne 2024

Pre-match details

For the teams, this was the first meeting for 2024, but what an important win it would be for each of them. For NAVI, this was the second BO5 final at the tournament. Where they lost the first one against Spirit by a score of 3-1 in BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2024

Match Details

The first map of the match was Nuke, the choice of NAVI, who had a bad start, but eventually got their act together and took the game to extra rounds, where Vitlality were able to push on and win with a score of 16-14.

The second map was Dust 2, where both teams showed a good game, but still NAVI managed to show themselves better and they won with a score of 13-10. The third was Mirage, where both teams have a series of victories, NAVI has 12 and Vitality has 8. In a very nervous game, on a series of 3 extra rounds, Viatlity still managed to win with a score of 22-20.

The last game was Inferno, where in the first half Vitality as if a skating rink ran over NAVI, ending the half with a score of 10-2. In the second half, NAVI tried to come back and almost succeeded, but they lost an important round and then gave the map away with a score of 13-9.

We threw three mup points on Mirage. I told everyone: stay calm, shit happens, we didn't play well, but let's stay focused. Everyone had a good moment individually

Mirage was all about momentum. We wouldn't have played Inferno CT that bad. We had a long break to gather our thoughts, but they still completely dominated us. They deserved it

Best Player of the Tournament

The title of best player of the tournament was given to Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, who showed incredible play in the final as well as throughout the tournament.

Final thoughts

For Vitality it was the first win at IEM Cologne, which is very important for them, as well as especially for apEX . Who participated 8 times and never managed to win.
