NIGMA GALAXY has announced the disbandment of its female CS:GO team
Nigma Galaxy announced the dissolution of its women's team on February 14th. This comes as a surprising move, especially considering their dominance in the field since the merger in September 2021. The team, soon to be unsponsored, is undergoing its first roster change in nearly two years, with zAAz replacing vilga.
Coach hyskeee, in an interview with HLTV, mentioned that externally, this change might surprise some, but it's challenging to maintain the same roster for such an extended period. He sensed that the atmosphere didn't reach the desired level, affecting their performance. To progress, the addition of fresh blood is necessary, and he believes it's the right move for both parties. tory will take on the roles of captain and in-game leader, while zAAz joins as a rifler. Special thanks were given to vilga for her significant sacrifices and hard work that contributed to winning numerous championships.
vilga, during her two-plus years with the team, led Nigma Galaxy to six offline championships, maintaining an average rating of 1.10 during her tenure. The 32-year-old zAAz, formerly representing G2 Oya, achieved 5-6th place in two seasons of ESL Impact.
This decision is particularly unexpected, considering the team secured victories in three significant offline tournaments (ESL Impact Katowice, and two ESL Impact League Finals), solidifying their position as the top women's team in 2023.
Their success in the same year led Nigma Galaxy to be honored as the Best Women's CS Team at the 2023 HLTV Awards, and their star sniper, ANa, received the Best Female Player award.
zAAz expressed, "I am extremely excited and thrilled to embark on a new chapter with this talented team. As a player on this team, I feel very free and happy, as I can unleash my potential and deliver better performances by following this team. I can't wait to create beautiful memories with these girls and ultimately win some championships."
Player tory, taking on the in-game leadership role, expressed her happiness in assuming command and trying out different tactics. "I will do everything possible to maintain our top position and start competing with 2-3 tier male teams. Thanks to my teammates for trusting me and allowing me to take on the leadership role."
The team is currently participating in the YaLLa Compass 2024 Spring Challenger Series, with a 0-1 record after a loss to Sprout. They also plan to compete in ESL Impact Season 5 after receiving an invitation to the group stage.
