Rumour: NEO Set to Become Astralis Head Coach After ruggah Exit
Astralis are reportedly set to appoint Filip “NEO” Kubski as their new head coach following the departure of Casper “ruggah” Due.
According to sources cited by HLTV, the Polish Counter-Strike legend is expected to take charge of the Danish organization as Astralis look to rebuild after a disappointing run at the Cologne Major.
ruggah’s exit came after Astralis were eliminated in Stage 2 of the tournament, a result that appeared to highlight the limits of the current project. CEO Jonas “calc” Gundersen later suggested that the organization wanted to move toward a more international performance culture while still keeping its Nordic identity.
That direction fits NEO’s profile. The 39-year-old brings experience from FaZe, where his time as coach included three Major finals and several titles. However, his stint ended in march after FaZe’s results declined, bringing a difficult close to what had once looked like a strong run.
NEO now appears set to join another roster that has struggled to meet expectations. Astralis are expected to continue with a lineup featuring HooXi , phzy , Jabbi , staehr and ryu heading into the next season.
If confirmed, the move would mark a major coaching change for Astralis as the organization looks for a new direction after its Cologne setback.
